How does touchscreen typing compare to having a keyboard?

I’m currently using a QWERTY phone and thinking of getting a touchscreen handset without a keyboard. I’ve tried a few touchscreen phones and it feels kinda weird. Do you get used to it? Has anyone else made the change from keyboard to touchscreen?

I haven't made the change from Qwerty myself, but from the regular phone keypad to the touchscreen iphone. I have no problem with it at all. Sometimes I turn the phone sideways to make the keys slightly bigger for ease of typing.

I personally still prefer a real qwerty, but you do get used to touchscreen keyboards. I'm typing this on a Nokia C7 and though it doesn't have one of those 4inch + screens, it lets you type at a good speed.
And though I said I preferred real qwertys: a poorly designed real keyboard can be more of a bother than the initial unfamiliarity with touchscreen typing.
If you write a lot, I would however recommend a screensize of at least 3.5 inches.
