Can I transfer normal sim card to new Android phone?

Am planning on getting an Android phone, can I just put my old sim card into it, I want to keep my number.

Yes of course you can transfer the sim. It is nothing to do with the OS the phone uses. If you have a sim card in your previous handset you can buy a sim-free handset with Android and just pop the sim in the new handset. If you take out a new contract from a new network or provider you can also transfer your number over to the new sim.

Oh ok, that sounds ideal then. I'll probably be buying a sim-free handset. Thanks!

Sometimes but not always in my experience. Your network should be happy to send out a new replacement SIM if there's a problem. I've has a spare PAYG SIM for years in case of emergencies - didn't work with my latest smartphone but worked fine in the last 2 handsets. Got a new SIM and it's no problem.

It's pretty rare though - most recent SIMs should be just fine.
