Does anyone know how to turn the data option totally off?

I use this phone with a cheap plan with no data allowance. I can still use data but they charge me a fortune if I do. Any way to simply disable data? The only solution I found online pointed me to a menu item I don't seem to have. Anyone know?

Apparently some providers have had the firmware customized to remove the menu item to turn it off. If it isn't there, then I don't think you can turn it off.

easiest way: call customer care ;) They can disable data on your phone. Else, try to find "access point names" in 'setting'/connections... if you can edit your access point name, call it something silly like xxxxxx.con...better yet delete it - though that may not be possible.

Possibly try this:

Menu >>> Settings >>> Data >>> Select Disable

Let us know how you get on :)

Menu >>> Settings >>> Data >>> Select Disable

This is my problem. That menu option isn't actually there. The online documentation says that's how you do it, but there isn't even a 'Data' option on the settings menu.

Customer Care on the other hand isn't keen on doing any such thing. They would rather charge me when the wrong button gets pressed in my pocket. :(

I had the same problem when I had this phone. Customized firmware to prevent turning it off. Never found a way around it. Changed providers as soon as I could. Sorry.

I don't blame you. Which provider was it?
