How can I turn off Swype on my Samsung phone?

I really don’t like Swype. Is there some way I can turn it off on my Samsung Galaxy?

On any input area (example sms message), press and hold, select "Input Method" then select "Samsung Keypad".

Yes, or go to settings => text/keyboard and uncheck Swype to completely disable it.

I have an HTC Desire phone that will not let me choose the keyboard type. It just stays on swype. I can't get rid of swype and I can't find anywhere that it says restore to default settings. Please help!!!!
