With the recent reshuffle at RIM, comScore data mine decided to take a closer look at the average BlackBerry user, particularly in terms of age, salary and payment responsibility.
Essentially, BlackBerry users are old, wealthy, and quite often don’t pay their own freakin’ bills. I feel a song coming on… # Pay my telephone bills, pay my automo’ bills #
The most popular age group for BlackBerry users is 55-64, closely followed by 45-54 and 35-44 year-olds. The awesomest group, those aged 25-34, were in fact the second least popular, with only slightly more users than the childish and immature 18-24s.
Looking at income, BlackBerry users are most likely to rake in more than $100k, followed by $75k to <$100k and $50k to <$75k.
As for payment, taking care of their own bill is the least likely scenario. BlackBerry owners are more likely to have at least part of their bill taken care of by work, but the most likely scenario is having their employer foot the entire bill.
That ties in with some BlackBerry PlayBook owner stats I mentioned yesterday, indicating that 72% are 35+, 84% are male, and their average income is $78k. Interesting.
