Has the UK forsaken NFC?

Do you think it's safe to say the UK has forsaken NFC? I really don't see it taking off.
Meanwhile it's all the rage in, say, South Korea.

Yep - by the time I've found the rarely used app to capture the QR code on the poster at the bus stop, the bus has not only arrived but I'm half way home already.

It will happen. It will just take **** ages. We're a country of paranoid, conservative cynics. Change (especially when it comes to paying for things/the security of our money) takes ages. The death of cheques and rise of chip and pin was only so abrupt because it was long overdue and the banks and retailers got fed up playing nice. Given the choice, I suspect a lot of people would still pay for their weekly shop with a cheque (many of those customers have actually shunned Chip & Pin for reasons of paranoia and now simply pay in cash - counting out every **** penny).
