How can I get a UK mobile phone contract with a bad credit history?

How can I get a UK mobile phone contract with a bad credit history? Is there any way around it, like do any networks let you pay the whole contract up front or something like that?

If your credit situation is bad then goto to the networks brick and mortar shop and tell them upfront that your credit rating is bad. Then can then do an internal credit check using a debit card instead of using Experian etc. EE for example can do this and Three as well. They might ask you for a bit more money upfront towards the phone but you will be able to get a phone.
Another way around this is to get a pay monthly 30 day or 12 month contract where the bill is paid through DD. And then 3 or 6 months into the contract, depending on the network, you will be able to upgrade to a full blown 24 month contract w/o a credit check. Just make sure all bills are on time.
Hope this helps.

Why would you pay the whole lot up-front instead of going prepay? Three and others have decent prepay deals and add-ons. Buy a sim-free phone and get on with your life - like: work on your rating instead of adding another committment.
That's my POV...
Anyhoo... AFAIK, sim-only deals get rated differently. In other words, you may pass the credit check more easily. You can combine the sim-only deal with a prepay phone or a sim-free phone bought from eBay, Amazon or anywhere else... Many flagships in the past 18 months flopped. You can get great sim-free phones. Last year's flagships are still good.
