Any update on the Amazon Kindle Fire's UK release?

Clearly the Amazon Kindle Fire isn't coming out in the UK in January after all LOL!

For a while now the word has been Q1. January was initially mentioned. But Q1 could be end of March...

Yeah, best we've got so far is Q1, which in reality could be any time up to the end of April. Many products end up being delayed...*cough* Asus PadFone :p.

You don't want one at it's current state. UI on Fire is terrible and in dire need of improvements. It does not have SD card and only has 8GB internal space. At it's current state Fire is a pilot product to see if idea takes off. So far it has been successful due to it's price and hype, rather than being a quality product.

Have to agree with CTPAHHIK...
Though, admittedly, I haven't actually used on, I do believe the Kindle Fire is overhyped.

We have one going around in the office. You don't have access to Google market, so none of your existing app will work. Not that you want to. Rooted it and loaded market just to find out that Fire does not play nice with non-tablet optimized apps. Even HD style apps do not work so good, as you need Fire optimized edition.

Amazon Android is not Google Android as two are different. Amazon took Android and modified it to its own needs making it different OS. You have as much luck running market apps on fire as you do on playbook.

If you are experienced with loading ROMs, Fire can be liberated with Google Android, converting it to a regular Android tablet like any other. At this point this it becomes a viable device to use.
