Very under-rated phone - it's a brilliant piece of kit for the price!

I've had this phone a week. After doing loads and loads of research this phone seemed to have some very impressive specs, almost as good as the highest end smartphones, yet is available for half the price. So I took the plunge and bought it and have yet to be disappointed. Performs great on Android 2.1 but will get upgrade to 2.2. very soon although hints from Moto that they may go straight o 2.3 with it. Overall this phone seems very under-rated!

Sadly, here in Ireland it's been year since a network last offered A Motorola. I wouldn't mind trying one of the new breed. Enjoy :-)

KingCampo, I'm also interested in this phone after reading a good review of it in PC Pro magazine recently. May I ask where you bought it from and for how much? Many thanks.

I'm getting this deal tmrw methinks http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/motorola-defy-for-only-15-24-month/812913#post10424559
What hints from Moto about 2.3 have there been? I was under the impression that with Motorola's history, the upgrade to 2.2 wasn't even for certain?

I got it from T-Mobile on a double-deal with a new phone for my wife. Got a Defy + Samsung Monte on 24 month contract for £25/month which gives Defy: 300min,300texts,unlimited T-Mobile calls and unlimited (3GB) data ... Monte: Unlimited texts & 100 mins. Still very pleased with Defy although T-Mobile left me with option to change after 7 days for Desire HD or Galaxy S if I wasn't happy (but they'd cost £10/month more)

Phones were both free btw. It was a package I negotiated over the phone directly with T-Mobile that suits our use perfectly.

Looks like an interesting phone. Hope the kinks in Moto's software have been ironed out because phones like this and the Milestone 2 should be contenders, not pretenders.

Motoblur is very good at integrating email, texts,Facebook & Twitter messages into a single inbox. Interface is excellent and you can change options to suit. Lots of the built-in software works very well, you don't feel the need to go to the Android Market and replace everything. The music app is excellent too, esp the way it merges FM radio, internet radio & stored music into a single interface.

Yep, its is very good indeed! Have you noticed in the Motoblur website there is an option to locate your phone if you have misplaced it, and also an option to remotely erase all data too!

Yeah, that's handy, although you have to leave GPS on all the time for this to work and it does take battery power in the background. The free sat nav works brilliantly on this phone via Google Navigation, no stutter at all and shows google satelite images very clearly.
