When I wrote about the $170 ViewSonic ViewPad e70’s appearance at CES 2012, I mentioned that the US manufacturer has been cranking out tablets like nobody’s business over the past year or so.
Little did I freakin’ know that ViewSonic had not one but two more tablets up its CES sleeves. And heck, why not throw in a bloomin’ smartphone for good measure?
They are the business-oriented dual-OS ViewSonic ViewPad 10pi (pictured), the super-slim Viewsonic ViewPad 10e and the ViewSonic ViewPhone 3. Bizarrely, all three of them run - no, not Ice Cream Sandwich, but - Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
Here’s a quick rundown, kids:
ViewSonic ViewPad 10pi
- “For today’s busy mobile professional”
- 10in 1280x800 IPS display
- Intel Oak Trail z670 processor
- Windows 7 Professional or Android 2.3
- Available late Jan (US) at $849
ViewSonic ViewPad 10e
- “paper thin” (ahh, we’ve met this one before!)
- 9.1mm thick
- 10in IPS display
- 1GHz Cortex A8 processor
- Android 2.3
- Pseudo 3D UI
- Available late Jan (US) at $299
ViewSonic ViewPhone 3
- Dual-SIM
- 3.5in capacitive display
- ARM 800MHz processor
- Android 2.3
- Available late Q1 (US) at $279
Interestingly, the ViewSonic press release notes that 27% of mobile subscriptions in Latin America – where the ViewPhone 3 will also be released – are classed as multiple. Who knew?
