ViewSonic ViewPad 10e pops up on Argos at £199.99

ViewSonic ViewPad 10e pops up on Argos at £199.99Ridiculous claims about being “paper thin” aside, the ViewSonic ViewPad 10e sounded like an interesting prospect when it was unveiled earlier this week, especially since the word “budget” was being banded about.

Now ViewSonic’s latest tablet effort has popped up on Argos, and “budget” is right enough. Oooh baby.

The ViewSonic ViewPad 10e will go for £199.99. This could be the tablet option us holdouts have been waiting for. That’s less than half the price of the 16GB iPad 2, but the ViewSonic ViewPad 10e is way better than half as good.

The 9.7in IPS LCD 1024x768 display offers enhanced viewing angle action, which ViewSonic says: “has to be seen to be believed”. There’s also an interesting pseudo-3D (in the sense that it’s not autostereoscopic) UI.

Other specs include a 1Ghz Cortex A8 Processor, 4GB storage (expandable), micro USB and mini HDMI ports, a 1.3MP front-facing camera (no sign of a rear camera), and a 5,400mAh battery offering 200 hours standby time.

Impressive no? The ViewSonic ViewPad 10e is expected to land in early November.

Well, it got underwhelming reviews. The show piece UI is SPS's Shell which can be popped onto every Android tab. A tablet relies big time on a great (not just huge) screen. I have yet to use a non iOS tab that can compete with the iPad's responsiveness. You can buy a ZTE Skate for the price of this tab. You can also feed 100 homeless. Both are better uses for your bucks, if you ask me.
