It’s been a good week for entry-level phones. Earlier this week we met the Motorola Motosmart, and now Virgin Mobile is joining the budget party.
The network is offering a little something called the ZTE Kis on PAYG for a decidedly wallet-friendly £49.99.
To be fair, there’s an obligatory £10 Virgin Mobile top-up with the ZTE Kis, though you’re still looking at less than 60 quid all in.
Of course, for that price, you can’t exactly expect face-punching specs, however the ZTE Kis actually looks more impressive - on paper, at least - than the pricier Motorola Motosmart.
ZTE Kis specs include a 3.5in display (320 x 480), 800MHz processor, 256MB of RAM, 512MB storage (augmentable via microSD, 2GB card included), and a 3.2MP rear camera.
In OS city, it’s Gingerbread (Android 2.3) as mayor. Sure, it’s not the latest version (Jelly Bean), or even the version before that (Ice Cream Sandwich), but you’re in good company – with 64% of the Android user base.
Virgin Mobile is also throwing in 1GB of data per month for 12 months, which gives the ZTE Kis another leg up over similarly priced rivals.
