Vodafone 555 on sale

Vodafone 555 on saleA few weeks ago Vodafone announced its 555 featurephone. It's now on sale, and the big selling point - Vodafone hopes - is the dedicated Facebook button integrated into the QWERTY keyboard.

Of course, the Vodafone 555 isn’t the only phone on the market with a dedicated Facebook button, but it’s certainly the cheapest.

HTC announced its Facebook phones – the Salsa and ChaCha – back at Mobile World Congress in February. They too have dedicated Facebook buttons, but are significantly more expensive.

Vodafone is punting the 555 at £62.50. Meanwhile, the HTC ChaCha will set you back somewhere in the region of £200.

The Vodafone 555 keeps its cost down by adopting a modest 2MP camera, and has just 40MB internal storage. On the plus side, it packs an impressive 800MHz processor. EDIT: further investigation suggests that's a typo on the Vodafone site. The Vodafone 555 has a, uhm, 200MHz processor.

Will teens be tempted by the Vodafone 555 when they can grab a decent Android-based smartphone for a few quid more? Time will tell…

where did they get the chips? It's odd to see an 800mHz processor in a phone like that...
Anyhow...I never mentioned this, but I do dislike Facebook

Seriously, though - I wonder how many folks will accidentally 'share' the wrong stuff on FB LOL...
Just look at the probs people have with their dumbphones where a hardware button is assigned to Vodafone Live...

I did furrow my brow when I saw 800MHz, but stupidly I trusted the horse. Vodafone still reckons it's 800MHz, but elsewhere it's listed as... wait for it... 200MHz. That's more like it (_;)
