Vodafone announces Vodafone Smart, the phone "for everyone"

Vodafone announces Vodafone Smart, the phone "for everyone"Vodafone has fired out a cheeky press release today, announcing the all new Vodafone Smart, which it describes as “A Smartphone for Everyone”. That’s quite a bold claim, sirs.

Patrick Chomet, Vodafone Group Terminals Director, explains: “The Vodafone Smart is a new smartphone concept. It takes the higher end mobile internet experience and packages it for the mass market, its range of covers and accessories making it a fun fashion statement.”

As the lovely Heidi tells us in this accompanying YouTube video, the Vodafone Smart will initially ship in black and white, with more covers to follow. But, more interestingly, you can actually design your own one-off cover online.

The Vodafone Smart has a 2MP camera, 2.8in screen, and runs Android 2.2 (Froyo), with support for 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Coming to the UK in “early summer”, the Vodafone Smart will be available on a range of Vodafone PAYG plans.

I'd imagine it'll be a pain to browse on something that's got such a small screen.
