Vodafone Smart 3: £95 for 4in, 5MP, Jelly Bean

Vodafone Smart 3: £95 for 4in, 5MP, Jelly BeanRemember the Vodafone Smart 2? Nah, me neither. It popped up last May, with fairly mediocre specs and a price tag of £70.

The Vodafone Smart 3 cranks the specs, but also jacks up the price by a crucial £25. Is it tough enough to punch the rest of the budget gang in the gob?

Vodafone Smart 3 specs include a 4in display (480 x 800), 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal storage (with microSD for expansion), a 5MP rear camera, and Jelly Bean (Android 4.1).

At £95 on Vodafone PAYG, the Alcatel-built Smart 3 will go head-to-head with the likes of the HTC Desire C, ZTE Blade 3, and Huawei Ascend G510 (a little pricier at £130).

Of course, there are various budget Windows Phone 8 handsets too, including the Nokia Lumia 520, Nokia Lumia 620 and Huawei Ascend W1.

The Vodafone Smart 3 doesn't appear to have any standout features (other than the, er, changeable covers), so we reckon it might well struggle to stand out in the increasingly brutal budget arena.

Fancy it? The Vodafone Smart 3 is available now with free delivery, and comes in black or white.

I'm surprised Alcatel aren't selling this cheaper.

Why would anyone buy that!??? Every single alternative you listed makes more sense.
And it doesn't even look good.

A well looked after HTC Desire or Nexus One make more sense, IMHO.

Top end build quality, just as much power as all of the phones listed above (possibly worth investing in a new battery, though).
