Vodafone Smart 4G: Big Red’s first LTE phone?

Vodafone Smart 4G: Big Red’s first LTE phone? In recent weeks, we’ve thanked the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for seemingly outing the Google Nexus 5 not once but twice (uno, dos).

Here we turn our attention to a, uhm, slightly lower profile handset, what appears to be Big Red’s first own-brand LTE phone, namely the Vodafone Smart 4G.

Oddly, the FCC serves as gatekeeper to the US, but the Vodafone Smart 4G will – in all likelihood – be sold exclusively in the UK.

In terms of Vodafone Smart 4G specs, we’re possibly looking at a rebranded Yulong Coolpad Quattro, which would mean a 4in display (480 x 800), 1GHz processor, 512MB storage (augmentable via microSD), 3.2MP rear camera, and 0.3MP front shooter.

In any case, don’t expect the Vodafone Smart 4G to break the bank. Indeed, Vodafone is no stranger to wallet-friendly devices, including the Smart, Smart 2, Smart 3 and Smart Tab 2.

Of course, Vodafone only just flicked the switch on its 4G service at the end of August. Er, lets sidestep the fact that chief exec Vittorio Colao described 4G users as “technology freaks” just six months prior.
