Will Vodafone unlock a contract phone for free? I'm nine months into contract :)

DOn't see why not - they unlocked my PAYG phone after a week and i was 4 months into a SIM only 12 month contract

Yes, they are only network that I know of who will unlock phone free of charge.

I know some of their contract phones aren't locked.

As CTPAHHIK said, they're the only UK network, which I'm aware of, that'll unlock a phone free of charge. I think all the others charge £15 for the privilege.

They charge £15 for PAYG unlock, that's what it cost me to save my iPhone from their network :p.

Such a new device it wasn't locked, lots of people over on XDA who bought the cheap O2 S2s experienced the same thing. Not really surprising considering that the device had only been on sale 24 hours when I bought the first one (which had a broken home button and was replaced the next day).

I was sceptical, believe me...

On the other hand, this one hasn't shown the same issue and I've not heard about the home button being a failure point on S2s, so I guess I was just unlucky.
