Wallet-friendly Sony Xperia J touches down on Three Mobile

Wallet-friendly Sony Xperia J touches down on Three MobileI’ve made it quite clear that the Sony Xperia nomenclature makes me want to scream, as detailed in Making sense of the Sony Xperia alphabet.

Obviously – obviously – the ‘J’ in Sony Xperia J means it’s the most affordable of the bunch, and it’s on sale now – at Three Mobile.

The Sony Xperia J was one of three handsets unveiled by the Japanese manufacturer back at IFA 2012 in August, the others being the Sony Xperia T and Sony Xperia V.

Martin quite rightly described the Sony Xperia J as the “new baby” of the family, but hey, not everyone needs – or wants – or can afford – a £500 smartphone.

Sony Xperia J specs include a 4in display, 5MP rear camera, and super-modest 1GHz single-core processor. A quad-core 2GB RAM powerhouse it ain’t, but that’s the whole point, eh?

Storage is on the low side, with the Sony Xperia J offering just 4GB, however that’s augmentable via microSD. Phew.

Three Mobile appears to be the first UK network offering the Sony Xperia J. It costs £149.99 on PAYG, while contract options start at £13PM (over 24 months, with 50 minutes, 500 texts and 250MB data).

Not bad but think the U for £100 is better still.

I like the look of it, but specs don't match price for me.

O2 have been selling this model in-store and online for a few weeks now but is more expensive at £169.
