Watch US Netflix on your UK Android smartphone or tablet

Watch US Netflix on your UK Android smartphone or tabletIt’s unofficially (or officially, for all the difference it makes) Watching US Netflix in the UK Week here on Mobot. Yesterday I penned Watch US Netflix on your UK iPad or iPhone; here we turn our attention to Google’s ubiquitous OS.

Watching US Netflix on your UK Android smartphone or tablet really couldn’t be easier (seriously, this guide is all of 300 words long). And better still, it won’t cost you a penny.

I detailed the basics yesterday – the US Netflix library vs. the UK equivalent, the fact that we’re technically breaking the rules – so I won’t cover that ground again. Hit the blue words to get caught up.

Here, let’s dive straight in and assume you’ve already got the Android Netflix app installed, an active Netflix subscription, and a desire to watch US Netflix in the UK. All good so far?

Now we simply turn our attention to Google Play and download a free app called Hola Free VPN. It’s, er, a free VPN; pretty much does what it says on the tin.

All you have to do is open Hola and choose ‘Open’ beside Netflix. You're now looking at the US Netflix library, from the UK. It really is stupidly easy. Thanks, Hola!

Again, US Netflix doesn't look any different from UK Netflix at a glance, but try searching for US content like The Walking Dead, Haven, or Parks and Recreation if you need convincing.

Incidentally, Hola also serves as an unblocker for popular services like Pandora, Hulu Plus, the WWE Network and You can also browse with Chrome as if you were in the US.

And that’s how to watch US Netflix on your UK Android smartphone or tablet. Told you it was easy! Alas, accessing US Netflix on your UK Windows Phone is not so simple.
