Weighty upgrade for HTC Sensation on the way

Weighty upgrade for HTC Sensation on the wayAn image leaked to Android Central suggests a rather substantial update will soon be available for the HTC Pyramid. Or, erm, HTC Sensation as it’s now known.

The image shows a system update screen, with version weighing in at a meaty 368.92MB. ‘Download via Wi-Fi or cable only’ might be a good idea.

There’s no mention of any specific new features. The update screen simply reads: “To improve the performance of your device and add new features.” Hmm.

However, thanks to the tinkerers over on xda-developers, we have a vague idea of what to expect. They’ve been playing around with a leaked version of software update 1.35.401.1 for the past 10 days.

Users report generally improved performance, with smoother animations and scrolling, increased battery life and faster GPS. Quadrant tests weren’t significantly improved, however.

The HTC Sensation is the Taiwanese manufacturer’s first dual-core smartphone, and the first to enjoy Sense 3.0 goodness. It’ll soon be joined by the HTC Evo 3D.

Quadrant results are iffy at best anyway. You shouldn't need a number to tell you how responsive your phone is. If it's smooth, it's fast enough.

blizzard7 beat me to it. Quadrant results are 'iffy' indeed. Both Android- and PreCentral had an interesting article not so long ago.
