What’s the difference between Android 2.2 and 2.3?

What’s new in Gingerbread? I think my phone will get it soon, but is it a relatively minor update?

Here's a short article on the differences between Android 2.2 and 2.3 Gingerbread. http://www.androidtapp.com/whats-new-in-gingerbread-android-2-3/
I last had a Desire HD with Froyo, and at the moment I'm test driving a Sony Ericsson Arc with Gingerbread. I'll spare you my opinion... ;)

Okay... Since no one's stopping me: For me personally it is utterly irelevant.
Yes, some subtle updates add up to more than the sum of their parts and all that, but at this point I would have expected more.
Every single phone I used in 2006 (and I used a FEW that year) had a smarter email client - winmo 6...for g*d sake, winmo 6 let us sync our webmail online folders, and search all mail, etc...

As someone who's moved from 2.1 to 2.2 & 2.3 on the same phone..... the biggest leap was from 2.1 to 2.2. Speed increase was greatest, and the ability to install apps (with stock roms) on the SD card arrived at last. 2.3, minor tweaks all round improve the speed 'slightly' but it feels like this should be called 2.2.5 not 2.3 :/
But agreed, the email client on Android is way behind the rest.

The email client is beyond embarassing. For such a central function they should have a stellar app.

*Search* inboxes... please, someday?!

Yes admin,
and even the 3rd party apps are less than stellar. Why can't I sync my folders to the phone in 2011? I could 5 years ago on winmo and symbian... That's why one saves mails and sorts them into folders, in case later you need to access them, Google.
I paid 10 bucks for a 3rd party app that braggs about Blackberry-type mail functionality for Android... My K750 had better email 'functionality'. But hey, at least it blings and swooshes and blangs...

Lol, I was about to say mu K800 had better email......

@JanSt - I believe k9 does sync folders. However it only lets you search the emails on the phone and not in the whole inbox.

Admin, your honour,
when I last tried K9, I wasn't able to get my Yahoo or GMX folders onto the phone, but maybe*** I'll try it again. Thanks :) (*** I'm only playing with the Sony Ericsson Arc, and the way things are, Android's not Jan-Ready :p
To think I got a Nokia C7 to pass the time until something good comes along, and 3 months and N phones later, I find it better and better and bett, and Anna isn't even out yet <=== the preceding was not sponsored by Nokia :p )
