Whats the battery like on th SGS2 (Samsung Galaxy S2)?

Using the following as a gauge to consider and compare:

1) I had the Desire Z and Desire HD (they both had terrible battery life).
2) I left data on 24/7 and wifi on around two hours a day.
3) I had live wallpapers running.
4) I used on average 3 widgets per screen (had around 4 screens).

Its only when I disable most of the above that I got just over 24hrs of battery. However, I didnt get instant e-mail updates of course and lost use of some of my most useful widgets.

i am seriously looking to get a Samsung Galaxy S2, but only if it has better battery life than the Desire Z/HD.

It's rubbish with the kind of usage you have in mind - but you knew that already, didn't you ;) ???
St Litchfield over on AAS recently did an indepth report on battery life. Though he focussed on Symbian S^3, his findings are enlightening and sobering stuff, indeed.
Your live wallpaper alone uses about 5 times the juice 'idle' than a pure black background (black is best on AMOLED screens. The Color app in the market lets you assign colours as Wallpapers).
I reckon with what you are suggesting, you'll get about 8-10 hours...

yeah, I guess I was living in dream world, hoping to be pleasantly suprised for once in my life (that finally there was an Android phone with Nokia E71/E5/E6 'battery' muscle). :(

I am not so sure. I have most of the above going. Maybe data turned off some of the day (but it is so easy to flick on and off), Wifi as I need it. And possibly playing music via bluetooth for a few hours and I reckon I get 24 hours out of it with no problem.
