Whatsapp pictures automatically go into Photos?

Not so much a question as a realisation, ha!
But I was sent half a dozen pictures on Whatsapp and they've automatically synced with my iOS Photos app. Is that a new thing?

on an iPhone, in the whatsapp settings you can turn off Save Incoming Media which which will stop media being stored on your camera roll. In whatsapp you can click and hold the media and then manually choose to save it if desired.

No, it's always been there.

To disable go to Whatsapp settings, chat settings, disable save incoming media

Not new, it's always been like that. To disable it, go into your settings on whatsapp, then chat settings, the toggle "save incoming media".

I don't think so, phone automatically picks up all pictures you have. It doesn't always rescan entire memory, so there could be a delay.
