Why do I get emails in both the Gmail app and HTC Dream client?

It sounds like you’ve entered the settings in both. This would explain why you get emails in the Gmail app and the HTC Dream client. You have a few different options:

1. Turn off Gmail notifications in Gmail settings and disregard the Gmail app
2. In Settings > Data Synchronization > Google, turn off Gmail synchronization; this will stop the mail from downloading in the first place
3. In HTC Mail, turn off notifications for your Gmail account
4. Again in HTC Mail, set your Gmail to manual synchronization
5. Delete your Gmail account from the HTC Mail client and continue to use the app
