Does Wi-Fi use more battery than data?

If I've got the choice of data or Wi-Fi, which, if any, drains the battery quicker?

Mobile data drains battery faster than Wi-Fi and tends to give you a slower connection speed.

Yep. One reason is that mobile data isn't just connected - it keeps looking for a better connection. Say you're in a 2G area - your phone will keep looking for 3G. Which is why, even if you never use mobile data, your battery drains way way way faster when 3G is enabled.
