Her Wi-Fi is great, mine is terrible!

Wi-Fi strength on my iPhone at home is quite terrible and sometimes cuts out, but my girlfriend has no such problems on a Samsung Galaxy S3. Is that because my phone is old? :(

How about if you move the wifi to a different channel?
If she gets wifi analyzer you could see if a different channel could be cleaner and check the strength of the current one.

Ahem... your phone's not really that old. I had an iPhone 4 when it came out and found it quite good with WiFi at work. A colleague still uses a 4, and she has no probs either. Switching from 3G to WiFi and back and to another WiFi hotspot etc... I remember I downloaded fairly chunky files (1/2GB+) over WiFi, also.
Have you updated the OS? Has it always been bad? Lastly (sorry, have to ask), are you two using the SAME access point, or is the remark about her phone more general?

Also: is that just something she says, or has she shown you hers? :p
