Will.i.am camera accessory to turn iPhone into ‘genius-phone’

Will.i.am camera accessory to turn iPhone into ‘genius-phone’Will.i.am isn’t all about making terrible pop music; he also has a penchant for technology. He appeared in the CNN newsroom “via hologram” in 2008, and more recently had a song beamed back from Mars.

Now Will.i.am is on the verge of releasing a new iPhone accessory that promises to greatly enhance the camera.

The iPhone camera accessory is the first in a new range of products in the i.am+ line, and makes the rather bold claim of boosting the iPhone’s camera from 8MP to 14MP.

The Black Eyed Peas rapper tells The Daily Telegraph: “We have our own sensor and a better flash. You dock you phone into our device and it turns you smartphone into a genius-phone. We take over the camera.”

Explaining the inspiration behind the accessory, Will says: “I was just hanging out [after a photo shoot], and one of the models took an iPhone picture, which circulated the planet before the shoot was even over.

“I took one of the photographer’s lenses and held it up on my [phone] and said: ‘Imagine this one day.’ Then I said: ‘I’m going to do this.’”

Apple has given the green light for the accessory, which will be compatible with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5.

The London launch is set for Wednesday, and the accessory will be sold exclusively through Selfridges shortly thereafter.

TBF, I could see a market for a case that the iPhone goes in that improves the camera, but the main thing id want would be an optical zoom which I assume this wouldnt have

Seen the pics of these devices now, guess now is not that point. Surely even selfridges is thinking erm an exclusive on these, oops.

It'll need a beats style distortion field to shift these.
