Windows 8 launch devices?

In terms of tablets, is anything other than Microsoft Surface RT confirmed as a Windows 8 launch device?

I'm not aware of confirmed launch devices. Sorry. I thought Microsoft designed the Surface tabs as show gadgets to set standards for OEMs. But I believe HP, Samsung and others already have their windows 8 tablets ready. After all Sammy have that rather spiffy Win 7 tablet-thing... At €1200 it was a tad expensive, but it felt quite competent.
Acer, too, had the W500... No reason they can't churn out something similar with Win 8 on it.

It did have a proper x86 Intel i5 under the hood, didn't it? You'd expect it to feel "competent" with that much power. Especially when people are used the the speeds an iPad can achieve. The A5X may be quick, but it's not exactly a "proper" computer processor, is it :p?

True. And I wasn't being funny: That Samsung tab is not bad at all. I didn't expect a Win 7 tablet to be perfectly usable - incl. Swype etc etc....
Still, €1200 was an iPad AND a good Notebook.
