A couple of weeks ago, Microsoft’s resident - how do I put this? – attractive older lady, Tami Reller, told us we could officially expect Windows 8 pie in October this year.
Now we know exactly which date to mark our in diaries. Got a pen? It’s October 26 – just a tad over three months from now.
The Windows 8 release date was confirmed by Steven Sinofsky at Microsoft’s annual sales meeting, and reconfirmed for absentees in black and white on The Windows Blog.
We’re told that Windows 8 will be available as an upgrade and on new PCs come October 26.
Lots of questions in the comments section about the Microsoft Surface release date, but nothing official just yet. We're thinking it'd make sense for the Microsoft Surface to be a launch device, though it sounds like M$ maybe isn't 100% ready to confirm.
I scribbled yesterday that Intel is tracking more than 20 Intel-based Windows 8 tablets. And don’t forget the ARM-powered chaps. They’ll of course be running Windows 8 RT.
