More Windows Phone 8 features leaked

More Windows Phone 8 features leakedWe’re all well versed in iO6; that’s old news. Now we’re looking to Microsoft for the next major smartphone OS update.

We’ve been promised a “sneak peek” at Windows Phone 8 – or Apollo – on June 20 (next Wednesday). In the meantime, a series of sexy screenshots has been leaked.

Said screenshots were passed to Nokia Innovation, however the author warns: "I CANNOT confirm if these are 100% legit or if they are fan-made, but I guess we will find out next week… Hopefully!”

According to the screenshots, anyway, here are few things we can expect from Windows Phone 8:

  • Skype integration: accept a Skype call with or without video, and start a chat session from the user’s profile
  • Simple camera UI: a typically minimal camera UI, with most of the options tucked behind three dots. There’s a horizontal bar to zoom
  • Data monitoring: monitor data use by app, complete with a special live tile
  • Nokia Drive 3.0: an updated UI with sexy traffic reporting and re-routing

Yesterday we heard that Nokia Maps was set to replace Bing Maps on all Windows Phone 8 handsets - not just the Lumias.

Exciting stuff. We’ll have official juice on the “future of Windows Phone” next week.

Taken with a pinch of salt tbh. With the exception of data monitoring, these were all leaked features anyway. It wouldn't be difficult to build a mock-up based on existing info.

Might be legit. Might not be. My gut says 'probably not'; something doesn't look quite right in those screens (different font in places?).

If those are screenshots, why are they out of focus? We know by law all leaked shots must be blurry... But how do you shake the SDK so much that the screenies get blurry?
So, imagewise I'm with satchef1; but the 'features' were to be expected...

If I can put a wallpaper on the main black background of the main screen, it's gonna be of Apollo Creed.

Yup.
