Given its small market share, does Windows Phone actually make Microsoft money?

I read a few weeks ago that, no, thus far MS spent more money on WP than what they made with it. Is it true?

Till now, it was more about the relevance than the profits. But now as mobile phones sales are almost 4times the PC sales and more than half of mobile phones sold are smart phones, Microsoft's cash registers will start ringing soon..
