Is Windows Phone profitable for Microsoft? I guess Nokia won't have to pay for licenses any more though, eh

I bet it isn't at this point in time. My guess is that they're losing money until they can sell enough licenses/devices, they still haven't broken into the mainstream in a big way. But I think WP is now the 3rd largest mobile platform so maybe they are making a small profit, who knows. It took MS several years to start turning a profit with the Xbox and it's looking that way with the Surface. MS generally invest billions of dollars up front, lose money for years and eventually earn a profit over time, that's their way of doing things. Keep at it and it'll pay off eventually.
