Why won’t my iPhone 4 charge on my laptop?

When I plug my iPhone into my laptop, it constantly makes the sound as though it’s being connected then disconnected. Any ideas? I’m stumped.

I dropped my iphone and now it will only stay on if plugged into the wall. And then it says it needs to be restored but i can't get it to come on while plugged into my laptop. I'm confused please help!

Could be a number of things.
Is the USB lead the one that came with the phone or an older one. This can sometimes 'trip' it up.
If that's fine, try goint to Device Manager and Portable Devices. Select Apple iPhone and Uninstall.
Plug your phone in again and Windows should recognise it and install the necessary and off you go again.
Hopefully...

I have the same problem (iPhone 4s making buzz noise when plugged into my Toshiba) and can't find any REAL help with this issue. I hate my iPhone!

For complete lack of info, you get a cr*p answer :p

a) does it charge normally via wall socket? b) does it charge via another computer's USB port?
c) have you tried another cable? d) have you tried charging anything else via that USB port?
d) have you done anything to your phone?

e) plug cable into laptop, THEN into the phone.
f) out of Fs
