It's a bit of a sorry state, indeed.
Consideringg how often Sony push out updates for the PS3, you'd think they design a 'Playstation' phone with, uhm, updates in mind?
But imho the Play was rubbish to begin with :p

Well, you can't have a gaming phone with 380MB of RAM. All that hype about Play being super fast due to driver implementation or whatever implementation or performance enhancements Sony was talking about is rubbish. It's like saying our competition are idiots that don't have a clue how to follow instructions and use driver optimizations.

Desire HD beats Play in every benchmark, except SD card speed. I've tried many different benchmarking apps. Play is good for PS games and emulators, while being too slow to play newer Android games. I'm sure 10-year old PS games will still play fine on ICS, so that's a quite a lame excuse Sony. Anyone who thinks that Play is gaming phone is out of touch with reality. It was when it was announced and by the time it shipped Optimus 2X left Play in the dust. Do not blame ICS on breaking gaming functionality - GTA 3 does not work on Play with GB, do you really think ICS will fix that?

The Play was sh*t to begin with and it's sh*t now. Its only bright(ish) moment was when it was a sub-£150 phone which had the prospect of getting ICS, now that's been confirmed as untrue, it's back to being a truly sh*t phone.

No "gaming phone" should have an Adreno GPU (especially not an ancient Adreno 205), they're weak...at best.

Yes, and that price only emphasised the fact that it was crap - as it was supposed to be 400-sh...
At 150.00 it still was crap.
