If you're still rocking Sony Ericsson's first Android handset, the X10, and feeling all left out by the fact you didn't get Froyo, try checking for an automatic update because we've got good news for you: Gingerbread is waiting.
Yup, Sony Ericsson skipped a generation and has been working flat out to bring the latest Android iteration to you straight from Eclair.
Updates are hitting today - that's if you haven't been notified of one already. They're for all carrier-independent devices (i.e.. those bought SIM-free or unbranded) and currently only for handsets in the UK, Italy, France and Germany - but our international friends will hopefully be getting the update too at some stage.
We remember the ire of SE fans who bought their Eclair-running toys, only to be told that there were no plans for Froyo to be offered and therefore, little chance of one of its biggest selling points: full Flash internet.
But now, that's all set to change - and not only is Flash on the horizon, but a whole host of Gingerbread goodies including enhanced battery management too.
