ZTE Blade III joins the budget smartphone battle

ZTE Blade III joins the budget smartphone battleLast week, some ZTE bigwig was screaming: "We would like to raise the percentage of mid- to high-range smartphones. That's the direction we're heading.”

However, the Chinese manufacturer still has a soft spot for the low end, as evidenced by the ZTE Blade III. It’s just landed in the United Kingdoms.

Er, yeah, I already scribbled a little bit about the ZTE Blade III earlier today, but I figured we’d formalise it with a proper news story. Slow news day? Shut yo’ mouth, mang.

As I was saying, ZTE Blade III specs include a 4in display (800 x 480), 1GHz single-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal storage, 5MP rear camera, 1,600mAh battery, and Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0).

So, eh, very much like the Huawei Ascend G300, which has, well, identical specs on paper. Oh, and a slightly smaller battery. It’s also around the same level as the HTC Desire C. Yup.

And that’s the ZTE Blade III. Again, it’s going for £79.99 on Virgin Mobile PAYG with £10 credit, with a slightly outrageous £7.99 delivery.

Glad someone heard the shot when HTC proclaimed, "less is more" :p
(though HTC should have said "fewer", but we're cool, eh? )

I have to admit: I fear for the young men (and women) who try to keep up with Android. I fear.

How much is the Huawei the lads G300 and G330 for comparison?

Last I checked G300 was around £90-100 and G330 was £170-180 sim free and supposedly £150 and under pre-paid.

Bear in mind its an imported device. You can get better for the price on other imported devices. Make sure you consider the risks of importing etc... also make sure you untick all the optional extras on this page apart from the prerooting/mod time service and anything else youbwant.

My post is being moderated because it has a link in it. Basically you can buy the g330d from etotalk for $170 with free shipping.
