Remember ZTE? Formerly Zhongxing Telecommunication Equipment Corporation? The Chinese manufacturer was behind the hugely popular wallet-friendly Orange San Francisco (aka the ZTE Blade) a few years ago, but it’s taken a bit of a backseat in the west of late.
Things are still mega-busy on ZTE’s home turf, however, and the Chinese manufacturer is seemingly on the verge of launching the Blade S6, an oddly familiar-looking phone.
The e-tailer describes the ZTE Blade S6 as a “5.0 inch Android 5.0 4G Smartphone”, seemingly confirming it’ll be fairly big, with LTE compatibility and a serving of the latest version of Android, namely Lollipop 5.0.
ZTE Blade S6 presale supposedly starts on January 29, though presale price is unknown at present. The only colour listed is silver.
There’s a little confusion as to how the phone fits into the larger picture, since the ZTE Blade S6 looks a lot like the yet-to-be-announced ZTE Q7. The ZTE Blade S6 could possibly be an international variant.
There’s also no getting past the iPhone 6-style design. We wonder if Apple might have something to say about it should the ZTE Blade S6 materialise in the west.
Assuming this thing is legit, expect the ZTE Blade S6 launch to go down in the next few weeks.
